Melanie Velazquez

Intern, Summer 2026

Melanie is a second-year law student at the University of Houston Law Center.

She earned a B.A. in International Relations and History, along with a certificate in Japanese, from the University of Texas at Austin.

During her undergraduate studies, Melanie completed a policy internship with the Institute for Urban Policy Research and Analysis (IUPRA), where she researched state legislative activity affecting higher education, and worked as a substitute teacher.

Following graduation, she interned with a criminal defense attorney and continued work as a substitute teacher.

After her first year of law school, she interned with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, assisting the General Counsel with legal research and institutional matters.

This summer, she will intern with Generation to Generation and with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She is interested in employment and education law and in using legal advocacy to support individuals and organizations.
